The TCWW Health & Wellness Ministry (H&W) provides our church with a foundation for integrating health awareness messages, healthy living prevention tips and powerful engagement sessions/activities – all based on the Word of God.

Health & Wellness Ministry

Purpose

The purpose of the Health and Wellness Ministry is led by the vision and core values of The Church Without Walls (TCWW) through health education, prevention and awareness. As TCWW family members come together around the Word of God (Evangelizing People), the Health & Wellness Ministry will help equip members with Christ-centered education (Edifying Missions) to ensure they understand that health is as an integral part of serving God. As the church family is united in the ministry of the body as well as the spirit, we are then prepared (Equipping Believers) to dramatically improve the health outlook, attitudes and well-being of our congregation and the communities we serve (Enriching Persons).

Core Principles

The Church Without Walls (TCWW) is the ‘life-center’ of the community and a natural setting for information sharing.  We also have a genuine concern about the health of our members.  As such, we offer strong leadership in an effort to serve as a link between church congregation/neighborhood residents and community resources.  We believe, through the zeal and passion displayed by the Health & Wellness Ministry and our desire to see men, women and families’ lives changed by the power of God, current members,  new members and visitors will become fully assimilated within the Body of Christ and ultimately further develop their personal spiritual growth.

The TCWW Health & Wellness Ministry (H&W) provides our church with a foundation for integrating health awareness messages, healthy living prevention tips and powerful engagement sessions/activities – all based on the Word of God.  These lessons are a critical component in maintaining and improving the overall health and lives of our church members and neighborhood families.  Factors toward good health include hope, religious belief, a purpose in life, a sense of connectedness to others (both individuals and small groups), a positive attitude, a positive self-image, and love.  The church is a strategic place where all these elements can be discussed, experienced and nurtured.

The volunteers of the Health and Wellness Ministry embrace koinonia — together, through our interfaith partnership, and the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we:

  • are devoted to honor one another (Romans 12:10)
  • live in harmony with one another (Romans 12:16)
  • serve one another in love (Galatians 5:13)
  • are kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32)
  • admonish one another (Colossians 3:16)
  • encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
  • accept one another (Romans 15:7)
  • promote one another on to love and do good deeds (Hebrews 10:24)
  • offer hospitality (1 Peter 4:9)
  • love one another (1 Peter 1:22)

Support Groups

Health education and awareness sessions are showcased in a classroom setting. These workshops showcase a variety of disease states, therapeutic conditions and health topics.
Educational and interactive health fairs are planned to engage the church congregation, neighborhood residents and community. These high-spirited events are complete with personal health screenings, healthy cooking lessons, fitness demonstrations, informative presentations and educational resources.
The Health & Wellness Ministry meets the TCWW Congregation where they are! A creative and engaging 10-minute presentation, a “Healthy Highlight”, is delivered to Ministry Teams throughout TCWW to promote awareness and encourage action toward healthier behaviors. Topics are aligned with the National Health and Wellness Observance calendar.
Small group meetings are scheduled for those diagnosed and/or serve as a Caregiver of those diagnosed with a chronic disease — Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, Cancer, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis.
