Weekly Devotional
September 25 – October 1
Hold Fast To What Is Good
Scripture: “I delight to do your will, O my God your law is within my heart.”– Psalm 40:8
Devotional: Inwardly, for us as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, there is a daily war being raged between our minds and our free will. No wonder the Apostle reminds us in Romans chapter 7:15: “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” Certainly, I believe that it is the desire of all Christians to love God and give their best in service, especially in their hearts and minds but among us and always, there is this present age of evil all around us. So what do we do? We hold on and cling to God through our Worship to Him as we read His Word along with our Witness of Him to those around us!
Prayer: Thank you Lord for your abiding presence even when we do fall short of your glory and help us to trust You and not merely what we can see, feel, and touch. We thank you for filling us with your Grace and Mercy and allowing us today to experience your power through the Holy Spirit to navigate through this day we pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
Reflection Questions:
- How do you handle evilness around you?
Good Morning. I handle evilness by Focusing on God.
God is my Healer and Strength.
I am Nothing and can do absolutely Nothing without God.
I truly loved this week devotional. I was in prayer this morning for myself & body of believers to have that spirit of compromise broken in our lives. Devotional took me to God’s answer. Thank you Father
Good Afternoon, I handle evilness by staying in prayer and asking God to keep my heart & mind focused on His Will for my life.
As I studied over the weekend for my “Redemption” class that’s held on Tuesday evenings, one of our lessons was having “Free Will” to choose Christ. This was confirmation that because of God’s love and salvation in Christ, He chose us…so, I chose Him!!
Though I fight a daily battle of trying to do what is right…I thank God for leaving His Word that I can meditate on and giving me the ability to go to Him in prayer asking for His power and grace to do what pleases Him!!!
I try and see it as an opportunity on how to love and handle the situations how God would want me to handle the situation. It always helps to have a prayer on your lips and a praise in your heart so when these things come up we aren’t quick to anger or other negative attitudes
