A Feeler Who Is A Healer

Scripture: When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.” Matthew 14:14

Devotional: It is to know that we serve a God who always looks beyond our faults and sees exactly what you and I need.  He’s that kind of a God who loves us despite us and knows us better than we know ourselves.  He’s that kind of a God who feels our hurts and comforts us in the midnight hour.  Wow, what a mighty God we serve; one who truly is a feeler but one who is a healer; thank you Lord for loving me that much!

Prayer: In the midst of my storm,  Sovereign Lord, you always provide a peace that transcends all human understanding; we love you but more importantly than that, O God, we thank you for loving us!  Each day, Spirit of the Living God, you reveal your greatness to us by simply being everything that we need to continue this journey; thank you for your amazing grace, and thank you for healing our sin-sick souls through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, who paid it all to heal and redeem us, in Him we pray and give You glory, Amen and Amen!

He’s Closer Than You Know

Scripture: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.Psalm 34:18

Devotional: One of the age-old questions that many of us ponder silently is “Where are you God when I am hurting?”  In other words, Lord, why are you allowing this to happen to me?  Now, if you have never thought that, just keep on living.  Of course, many times if not most times, God had nothing to do with our mess; it was simply you and I wanting things our way.  Thus, we must remember that God is where He has always been and He’s closer than you would know.  In fact, if only we would think about the goodness of our God; what He has done and what He will do, and trust Him to know as the Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28 “that all things work for good for those who love the Lord and have been called according to His purpose.”

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, we recognize that in this life, we will have some trouble and we will have some tribulation, but we thank you and praise you for being with us!  We cannot thank you enough for demonstrating your love for us even when we don’t always feel your love. Enable us to remember and reflect on You during our times of difficulties and thank You for what we do have in Your Son and our Savior Jesus Christ, who is with us, through the power of the Holy Spirit we pray, Amen and Amen!

Reflection Question: Do you seek God’s presence when you are alone in your pain?

The Sounds Of Unity

Scripture: “For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” I Corinthians 3:9

Devotional: Harmony is such a beautiful thing when everyone plays their particular instruments which often creates a sound that can be a masterpiece.  In high school, I participated in our high school symphony by playing the trumpet and I was a part of the brass section.  Our section was joined by the 3 other sections and when the strings, (violins and cellos) the woodwinds, (flutes and clarinets) the percussions, (various drums and symbols) come together, what a masterful sound to hear!  If we as the body of Christ will come together and recognize that we are going the same way and on the same team, we can create a sound that will draw all men and women unto the Lord!

Prayer: God of Heaven, God of Life, God, we come into your presence with a heart of praise and thanksgiving!  We love you and we thank you for loving us!  Now Father, grant us your grace and mercy to appreciate the various gifts that You have given to us and help us to do what You have ordained us to do; that we when are on one accord, all things are possible, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior we pray, Amen and Amen

Reflection Question: What instrument are you playing for the kingdom of God?

All In His Hands

Scripture: See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.Isaiah 49:16

Devotional: All of us want security whether it is on our job, in our relationship, in our finances, or in our homes.  It is truly our hearts desire to live in the state of freedom and fullfillment, without worry or concern in what we do or what we enjoy.   As Christians, we have the assurance of knowing that we are not alone; for God is with us and He lives inside of us through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Thus, you and I are in His hands, but we are also in Him because He has, through the blood of Jesus Christ, carved us into those Hands and we have His protection, we have His provision, and we have His promise!

Prayer: My Father and My God, how we thank that You have engraved us into Your hands; a place where there is safety and security, a place where the weary can be at rest, a place where we can find peace in the midst of storms, a place where trouble and tribulation cannot find us; thank you Lord for your great love for us!  Now Lord, allow us to trust You to laying our burdens and our petitions in the palm of your hands; remind us that we can find joy in releasing all of our problems into these Hands; the Hands of the one who suffered bled and died for us but He arose with all power in His Hands, Jesus Christ we pray, Amen and Amen!

Reflection Question: Are you holding on to your problems or releasing them to Jesus?

Finding Strength In Knowing Him

Scripture: “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24

Devotional: Have you ever been staged frightened or paralyzed with fear even when you have the knowledge of getting an assignment accomplish?  I certainly have because I have tendencies to doubt myself even though I know I have the assistance of the Holy Spirit to guide me. It comes down to a matter of finding our strength in Him as we spend time with Him because Our God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, is the strength of our life, even if we don’t even know it!

Prayer: Eternal God our Father, we acknowledge and thank you for being our strong tower; being the one who we can find refuge and rest in because of your great love for us.  Now Lord, elevate our hearts and our minds to experience How truly great You are and that You have chosen us to be your children; thank you for this blessed assurance, in Jesus Christ we pray, Amen and Amen!!!

Reflection Question: Where do you find your strength in God?

He’s Right On Time

Scripture: And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? Luke 18:7

Devotional: We have so many “why” questions for God don’t we?  Why am I experiencing this loss?  Why am I going through this health crisis?  Why don’t I have enough to pay my bills or why was I the first one to be laid off to just list a few?  Beloved, the truth is, you and I must always remember that there are no surprises with Him.  Unlike with you and I, there is no failure in Him and as a gospel singer, Dottie Peoples says, He’s An On-time God.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for being an ever-present help in times of trouble and tribulation in our lives.  We thank you that there are no emergencies with You and we know that through it all, everything works for our good because You know what is best for us.  Now God, allow us to trust You with our hearts and minds so that we can share with others around us how great thou art, in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ we pray, Amen!

Reflection Question: Are you waiting on Him in your trial or are you trying to fix the situation yourself?

Weekly Devotional | Living up to His Standards

Weekly Devotional

April 16 – 22

Living up to His Standards

Scripture: “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Hebrews 10:10

Devotional: Growing up as a child in my household there were certain guidelines, certain things that we had to live up to, and certain things we had to do.  Just as our earthly parents desire us to do things, likewise, our Heavenly Father has standards and expectations for us to live up to as well. As we reflect on what Jesus Christ has done for us through His sacrifice on the Cross for our sins, let’s stay focused on living a life that brings pleasure to our Lord! Remember, we live in this world, but we don’t have to act like this world!

Prayer: Precious Father, we love you and we adore you for being the mainstay of our lives through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Thank you for providing for us the power of the Holy Spirit, who is our advocate and our friend.  Sovereign God, allow us to pay attention to the guiding of your Spirit as we desire to set the standard of living as your instruments of faith.  Allow your presence to be seen and fulfilled in our lives and we pray this prayer in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Reflection Question: What does it cost you to live up to His standards?

Weekly Devotional

April 9 – 15

Learning To Love Like The Lord

Scripture: I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart” Psalm 40:8

Devotional: Do you know your real passion for life?  Do you know what stirs your emotions that can be good or not so good?  Well as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and knowing the love that God has for you doesn’t fill your hearts with joy, honestly, I don’t know what can or what will.  As we read His Word, it should flame the passions of our hearts to love and show compassion toward others because of His great love for us!

Prayer: I love you Lord and I thank you for the opportunity in having the Holy Scriptures to read and to meditate on as we reflect on your wonderful love for humanity.  Thank you for seeing the best in us even when we don’t see it and reminding us to look to Jesus Christ as our example to love You, one another, and ourselves, in His name we pray, Amen!!!

Reflection Questions: What excites you when it comes to the things of God?

Weekly Devotional | Have You Seen Him?

Weekly Devotional

April 2 – 8

Have You Seen Him?

Scripture: “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29

Devotional: This week is referred to as Holy Week or Passion Week as we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on His way to fulfill an assignment that only He could do.  As we prepare our hearts and our minds for Resurrection Sunday, I ponder aloud, have we really seen Him? More importantly, have you or I really seen our Lord?  Let’s recognize that His presence is a result of His sacrifice on a hill called Calvary for my sins and then and only then can we experience 20/20 vision for Him alone!

Prayer: Almighty Father, we thank you for the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.  The one who bore my sins on the Cross; to pay the ultimate price just for me. Now Lord, grant me the hope and assurance of walking and living victorious and fill me with your Spirit to be an effective witness for thee, in His name, Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, Amen!!!

Reflection Questions: What do you see when our Lord is before you?

Weekly Devotional | A Heart of Praise

Weekly Devotional

March 26 – April 1

A Heart of Praise

Scripture: “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker”Psalm 95:6

Devotional: Is authentic worship always seen in our scripture readings, in our prayers, in our singing of hymns, and songs, in our fellowship, and even in our proclamation of God’s word?  Well, I would hope that is the intent but sometimes I believe we confuse worship with being noisy. Maybe your most effective time of worship is simply being quiet and as shutting out everything as we give full allegiance and appreciation to the God of Heaven in praising Him for who He is!

Prayer: Eternal God, we love you and we bow before you in total submission to your greatness and your abounding love toward us.  Now Lord, remind us to praise you in all things as we reflect and remember; give us an attitude of gratitude as we give you honor and glory, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen!

Reflection Questions: What type of worshipper are you?
