Lord, Thank You For Giving Us This Day

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  Matthew 6:34

Devotional: This week’s scripture verse is one that is very familiar and speaks to all of us because we all have the tendency to worry which ultimately takes our focus off of the one who is able to keep us!  In fact, these are very words spoken by Him on the Sermon on the Mount to remind you and me to take life itself, ONE DAY AT A TIME!  We really don’t know what will happen tomorrow but we do know who holds tomorrow in His Hands and He can keep us from falling or faltering, in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for being so faithful to us and full of grace and mercy toward us!  Now Lord, remind us that tomorrow will take care of itself and help us to concentrate on living in this present age in terms of our focus being on You and our hearts being full of thanksgiving and praise to you!  We thank you for loving us that much, in the powerful and perfect name of Jesus Christ, our Rock and Redeemer we pray, Amen!

Reflection Questions:  Are we worrying about things that we feel God is not able to handle for us?

Walk in the Light

As we begin this third work week of the new year, (wow, time is moving) I was reminded this week of a passage of scripture in the Gospel of John, chapter 1, verse 5 which says these words:  “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.”  Friends, during these seemingly dark days, with all that is happening in the world, our country, our neighborhoods, and personally what we are going through today, always remember this:  Jesus IS STILL the Light of the World and we walk in the Light of our Lord in trusting Him during these difficult times!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you that You sent your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to be the beacon of light for humanity.  Now Lord, help us to walk in the light of your love and be a reflection of your love to everyone that we may encounter; especially those who are living in darkness and we will forever give you glory and praise, in the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!   Hope you have a wonderful week and God bless you!

Refelction Questions:  Lord, how can I access your light in my dark situation?

Moving Toward Thee In 2023

Scripture: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” – I Corinthians 16:13

Devotional: Hope you are doing well and Happy New Year to you!  Wow, what a year we experienced in 2022 and as we are reminded in Philippians 3: 12-14 to press forward and upward in our walk and witness in Christ. Friends, you and I can accomplish this by staying prayerful and grounded in the Word of God as we trust Him to lead, guide, and direct our lives.

Prayer: Father, thank you for yet another chance to testify to those around us and those that we may encounter, your goodness and your graciousness; we love you and help us to remain faithful and trustworthy in all that we do, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen and Amen!!!

Question: What are you going to do differently in 2023 to grow upwardly in your relationship with Jesus Christ?

Being Thankful in the Good and the Not So Good

Scripture: Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. In All things, tell the Lord, thank you! – I Thessalonians 5:18

Devotional: Let’s be real for moment, it’s not easy at all to give thanks in all situations and in all circumstances. In some seasons of life, being grateful can be just plain hard. Many times we find ourselves overwhelmed with life most difficult issues such as a loss of a loved one, health issues, relationship problems and yet this verse reminds us, even during this season of Thanksgiving, to be grateful and appreciative in ALL things, good or bad, because God is able to work everything out for your good and my best!

Prayer: Lord God, You are so worthy of our worship and our praise; we give You a big thank you for all that You have done, doing, and is going to do in and around us!  For we give You thanks because even in the best of times or even in the worst of times, Father, You are still good and Your grace and Your mercy endures forever.  As we prepare our hearts and minds for another national recognition of Thanksgiving, help us to realize that if we have You, that is truly more than enough to be thankful and grateful for, in the name  Jesus Christ, we pray Amen and Amen!   Have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving!

Lord, Thank For Giving Us Life In Your Word

Scripture: For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. – Romans 15:4

Devotional: Friends, wouldn’t it be amazing to have access to everything that you need in order for you to be happy and successful in whatever you desire to do?  Well, we have it already and it’s ever before us in reference to the Word of God.  In fact, we gain not only strength, peace, contentment, and joy but we are guided and directed toward a healthy future, IF only we will take full advantage and govern our lives according to God’s love letter for His children!

Prayer: Lord we thank you for what You have done for us in ages past in giving us the Word of God, which leads us, guides us, teaches us, and correct us in truth and in righteousness.  It is a testament of Your great love in redeeming us and bringing us back into relationship with You through the blood our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Now Heavenly Father, help us to cling to your Word, regardless of the circumstances of our lives because there is Hope in your Word, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!

Reflection Question: Do you only read God’s Word when you are instructed to?

Weekly Devotional | Thank You Lord For Being The Strength Of My Life

Thank You Lord For Being The Strength Of My Life

Scripture: The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you. – Psalm 9:9

Devotional: Beloved, learning to trust God is easier said than done.  There are times when we say we trust Him, yet our reactions reflect something else.   Regardless of where you are in terms of your spiritual maturity, total dependence in God takes time as we must grow in Him through His Word.  Furthermore, when trouble comes our way and there is no one to helps us or we can to for advice, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we discover that God is truly our refuge and He is our strength.  My friends, life’s circumstances have a way of letting us know that He is truly our stronghold and He is our deliverer!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that we can rely on You when things are cloudy in our lives and remind us each day Lord that You are trustworthy.  We thank you for the opportunity to allow us to grow in You and depend on Your inner strength in our lives; we love you and we thank you in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!!!

Reflection Question: Who do you turn to when you need strength?

What Are You Drawing Nearer To?

Scripture: Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. – I Corinthians 15:58

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day and we give you praise for being the only true and living God!  Lord, we pray that You will renew our spirits and draw our hearts to thyself, that our work may not be to us a burden but a delight!  Now help us that we may serve You with cheerfulness and gladness; rejoicing in all that brings honor and glory to You, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

The Beauty of Singing To the Lord

Scripture: “But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”–  Psalm 59:16

Devotional: Unfortunately, many of us, like myself, do not have the gift of singing but that’s alright.   When we open our mouths and our hearts to worship God, something happens on the inside that expresses our love and adoration to Him!  When we think of God’s goodness to us and truly give Him praise, it releases His strength in us to give us peace and assurance of His patience with us; what a blessing!

Prayer: God of Hope, God of Grace, we thank you for this day and we thank you that You are our refuge and You are our strength and we give You glory, honor, and praise for your great love toward us, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Reflection Questions:

  1. What do you feel when you sing praises to God

Keep On Keeping On

Scripture: You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” – Hebrew 10:36

Devotional:

As a child growing up in my home church back in Georgia, we often sung this song, “I’m Pressing On.”  The lyrics go this way:

“I’m pressing on, I’m pressing on, trying to reach my heavenly home;

a few tears I’ll have to cry, I few more burdens I  have to bear,

I’m pressing on, I’m pressing on, trying to reach my heavenly home,

mother there, father there, I just trying to make it in.”

Friends, even in the midst of our trials and tribulations, what a tremendous blessing to know that our God always keep His promises!  We have this great assurance of knowing that when we have done all that we can do, we can stand on His Word which gives us the strength of His power IF you don’t give up or give in!

Prayer: Father, help us to not fall away from You during the testing times of our lives and to trust you with everything that we have because You are able to do exceedingly and abundantly in whatever we ask or can imagine; so we thank You and we love You,  in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Reflection Questions:

  1. What are you doing to prepare yourself for the testing times of your life?
