My Good Will Outlast Their Evil

Scripture: Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good” Romans 12:21

Devotional: My friends, sometimes it’s not always easy to maintain a Christlike disposition because people and or our personal issues will, at times, push us to the limit.  However, you and I need to remember one simple fact; we are not alone in this battle because our God is with us!  As a result of His presence, we can be His representatives of Him as we serve, survive, and even thrive in the midst of so much trouble all around us!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you so much for your people who are ministering and caring for in our community.  I pray that You will continue to give us everything that we need as we persevere through our own personal issues and problems and remind us that there is a great cloud of witnesses that are cheering us on as we do good to all, in the name of Jesus name we pray, Amen!

Reflection Questions: What is your outlet when you give of yourself for the betterment of others and it’s not returned back you?

Standing In His Power

Scripture: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians:  6:10

Devotional: I have learned in life that trouble doesn’t last always but trouble comes in all shapes and in all sizes, which can lead to heartache and pain for us.  However, there is the power source that we have in being children of the most High God.  For He, Jesus is our Advocate, our Friend, and our Comforter, who can do what none other can do in being our bridge over troubled situations!

Prayer: Father, thank you for being everything to us and being our strong tower during these challenging days; for truly You are our Rock and my Redeemer, thank you for sending us the Connector back to You in your Son, Jesus Christ, and remind us that because of Him, we are able to face our tomorrows,  in His name and in His power we pray, Amen and Amen!!!

Reflection Questions: Who and where do you turn when trouble knocks on your door?

Good In The Midst Of Evil

Scripture: “You meant evil for evil but God meant it for good.” Genesis 50:20

Devotional: During these days of so much social unrest, so much crime in our city and community, and still living with this pandemic, we must remind ourselves that our God still reigns, God is sovereign, and God really is still in control regardless of the times in which we are living right now!  Thus, you and I must trust Him and do our part to make this world a better place by loving and displaying the character of Christ in those around us in this present age!

Prayer: My Father and my God, thank you for being so good to each and every one of us by sparing our lives with your grace and mercy!  Now Lord, enable us to love one another as You have called us to do so if we are truly your disciples. We ask afresh today that you will fill us with your presence whereby we can make a difference in society so that those we may encounter may see You in us, in the name of Jesus Christ, our example of love we pray, Amen and Amen!

Reflection Questions: Do you ever get tired of trying to do good with so much evilness around us?  Secondly, what do you do to combat evil around you?

He’s Shelter In Times of Storms

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

Devotional: Sometimes when strong storms come into our area, especially living near the gulf, we are warned to take cover and find a protected place in our home, especially when tornadoes are spotted. Life problems and issues can be that also but I would like to encourage us to recognize the power and the greatness of our God.  My friends, let’s not forget that God has us underneath His wings as our protector and our shield; thus you and I can find rest, peace, contentment, and joy in Him and Him alone!

Prayer: Father, how we love you and thank you for being our dwelling place where we can find everything that we need; continue to give us focus to look to the hills of your holiness, where we can escape from the pressures of life and be comforted by the shadows of your might, in the name of Jesus Christ, who came to give us life and to be light in our hearts, we pray, Amen!!!

Reflection Questions: Are you prepared and do you heed the warnings when storms of disappointment and despair come your way?

Living On the Overflow of God’s Love

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Devotional: My friends, life can be so challenging, especially in times of uncertainty and when the familiar is not readily available for us as Christians.  However, for some strange reason, we are able to continue to press forward even when it seems that our backs are against the wall because we have the assurance of God’s compassion for us.  In fact, His reassurance enables us to know that God has given us access to Him through the power of the Holy Spirit and we can and we will make it through!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Our God, we thank you for being our hope, being our joy, and being our peace, in the midst of so much pain, so much suffering.  Lord, help us to truly be changing agents for a world that truly needs to see your love and compassion every day; thank you for giving us everything that we need to make a difference in society and in our community, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

Reflection Questions: If you don’t feel the love of God right now, what should be your next move?

Weekly Devotional | Lord, Thank You For Giving Us This Day

Weekly Devotional

January 29 – February 4

Lord, Thank You For Giving Us This Day

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  Matthew 6:34

Devotional: This week’s scripture verse is one that is very familiar and speaks to all of us because we all have the tendency to worry which ultimately takes our focus off of the one who is able to keep us!  In fact, these are very words spoken by Him on the Sermon on the Mount to remind you and me to take life itself, ONE DAY AT A TIME!  We really don’t know what will happen tomorrow but we do know who holds tomorrow in His Hands and He can keep us from falling or faltering, in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for being so faithful to us and full of grace and mercy toward us!  Now Lord, remind us that tomorrow will take care of itself and help us to concentrate on living in this present age in terms of our focus being on You and our hearts being full of thanksgiving and praise to you!  We thank you for loving us that much, in the powerful and perfect name of Jesus Christ, our Rock and Redeemer we pray, Amen!

Reflection Questions:  Are we worrying about things that we feel God is not able to handle for us?

Walk in the Light

As we begin this third work week of the new year, (wow, time is moving) I was reminded this week of a passage of scripture in the Gospel of John, chapter 1, verse 5 which says these words:  “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.”  Friends, during these seemingly dark days, with all that is happening in the world, our country, our neighborhoods, and personally what we are going through today, always remember this:  Jesus IS STILL the Light of the World and we walk in the Light of our Lord in trusting Him during these difficult times!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you that You sent your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to be the beacon of light for humanity.  Now Lord, help us to walk in the light of your love and be a reflection of your love to everyone that we may encounter; especially those who are living in darkness and we will forever give you glory and praise, in the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!   Hope you have a wonderful week and God bless you!

Refelction Questions:  Lord, how can I access your light in my dark situation?

Prayer: Eternal God, Our Father, thank you for loving and give us what we need when we need it; now Lord, enable us to trust You in everything that we do and have been assigned to do, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen and Amen!

Moving Toward Thee In 2023

Scripture: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” – I Corinthians 16:13

Devotional: Hope you are doing well and Happy New Year to you!  Wow, what a year we experienced in 2022 and as we are reminded in Philippians 3: 12-14 to press forward and upward in our walk and witness in Christ. Friends, you and I can accomplish this by staying prayerful and grounded in the Word of God as we trust Him to lead, guide, and direct our lives.

Prayer: Father, thank you for yet another chance to testify to those around us and those that we may encounter, your goodness and your graciousness; we love you and help us to remain faithful and trustworthy in all that we do, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen and Amen!!!

Question: What are you going to do differently in 2023 to grow upwardly in your relationship with Jesus Christ?
